New year

It has been some time since I updated here.  I'm planning a series of craft stalls to raise money for various projects including The A21 Campaign, my local mum's group and Babymum Australia.  The first will be on Friday 24th of May and most items will be jewellery and a clutch or two.  Depending on how much I can get done, I may also do a range of simple totes, reusable baby wipes and aprons.

Support for the A21 Campaign

The purpose behind the design and sale of JucieLucie products is to support the work of the A21 Campaign - a fight against injustice in the 21st century.  I will be donating 50% of the profits of everything I sell.  I would like it to be more but I think I'll be needing to replace my sewing machine soon, so I guess I should save up for that!  A friend and I are also holding an event in support of A21 where ticket entry and proceeds from a silent auction will also be donated.  We are calling it "Be Her Rescuer" and hope to raise awareness of this issue.

First attempt at design

I've had a few gifts to make lately so I decided to design my own handbags so that in the future, if they were well received, I could possibly sell them.  Here are my first four designs.  Two are similar; the middle panel of one is pleated (green/grey) and the other is left as a plain block (purple).

The green/grey and purple bags are very roomy inside and have a laminated cardboard insert for strength and support.  The green/grey bag also has four metal squares set into the handles.

These two and the kimono dolls one (left) feature internal pockets, magnetic snaps and two handles.

The red flower bag has a zipper set in without internal pockets and I feel is a bit small.  I have since made another and made it bigger which I think works better.  All bags are strengthened with interfacing and fully lined with the same or coordinating fabric.
