Enid Gilchrist Inspiration
I've been on the search for a few years now for old Enid Gilchrist pattern books. She was an Australian fashion designer from the '40-70's who specialised in providing booklets detailing how to draft patterns. I am now the proud owner of a baby book, a couple of children's wear books, most recently a 50's/early 60's era book and (courtesy of my mother) a 70's book.
I've been making clothes from these books for the last 3 years since I was pregnant with my youngest and I'm hoping to learn more about how patterns are put together to make up some of my own designs. I love the vintage feel of a lot of her patterns; especially the 50's look for ladies and many of the children's designs are very transferable to the fashion of today, making them very well dressed. (Well I think so anyway)
